How We Came About

Back in 2014 we observed the sharp rise in social media and noticed that both companies and agencies were struggling to keep with the tide of information coming in quicker and quicker by the day. While company were mainly focused on their “owned” social feeds and news timelines, a storm was brewing outside. No one was taking notice what was happening outside their feeds and what their competitors were doing, until usually it was too late. The nature of the incoming data was getting faster, while response times were slowing down due to the lack of human resources and capabilities needed to not only track, but also analyze and report important insights.

That’s when the founders of Sonar Platform got together and realized that this is problem they could solve with technology, coming from technical, agency and artificial intelligence backgrounds. Within the a few months, prototypes were put together tasked at handling large data sets of mostly Twitter and Facebook conversations and were fined tuned by our early customers. The final result was a system that churned out analytics and reports faster, backed up by concise metrics – made transparent through a dashboard which users could configure according to their needs.

Our Mission: Helping Companies Understand Their Industry Better

Sonar Platform is concentrating on creating an intelligent platform that draws intelligence from various formats of Experience Data (EXdata) to power self-written AI based strategies and recommendations. Artificial Intelligence allows Sonar to analyze a multitude of posts of words, images and speeches and emerge with an understanding of what the consumer thinks, feels and wants from a product or service. And most importantly, the emotional “why” information that drives perception and decision-making. In order to obtain a complete picture of the consumer experience journey, data points are extrapolated from separate EXdata points originating from both open web and deep web sources. Open web sources are extracted from public social media and google indexed websites that contain any form of experience, whereas deep web sources originate from privileged access-only customer data and experiences owned by each respective company, such as conversation from chat, in-app, email, sms, internal customer care and others.

The question is, how does a company keep up with the market’s evolving and ever changing needs and preferences?

The simple and most generic answer is “know thy customer”, a saying which dates back hundreds of years. Despite being common knowledge amongst marketers and company owners, putting this into practice is a whole different ball game. How is it possible to know your customer when the traits of the customer themselves keeps changing, your industry is constantly shifting and your competitors keep multiplying and innovating? Not to mention the start-ups that are also constantly disrupting? These are challenges that plague marketers, CEOs and VPs globally.
